Art feeds the soul, and film is my extension.
My name is Saskia. I am a passionate and hardworking art director. Having a previous background in fine art, before graduating from Filmmaking (BA at Kingston University). I like to combine traditional art techniques into my film practice, to create a classical aesthetic.
For as long as I could remember I was immersed in the idea of filmmaking and creating a world of escapism. This lead me to study fine art and film for two years in college and then filmmaking for 3 years at Kingston University. Where I received a first with honours.
As a queer disabled artist, creating better representation in film is very important to me.
Coming from an art background, I pull inspiration from artist profiles, as well as the world around me. I like to use multiple media approaches in my work from miniatures to sculptures. My biggest inspiration would be the work of Wes Anderson, creating films that can be classified as a modern work of art.
I have also worked previously as an producer, SFX artist and focus puller.
I work part time as a phlebotomist in the NHS, working in health care along side my degree for the past 3 years. This usually shocks most people having such opposite agendas. But I have found this has taught me many skills, such as how to cope while working in stressful environments and using problem solving daily.
